What is the upgrade lens for canon 18-55mm kit lens

Ich habe Ende 2016 dieses Sigma Objektiv (Sigma 17-50 mm F2,8 EX DC OS HSM-Objektiv) gekauft für meine Canon EOS 7D Mk ii. Grund war die Brennweite und die Lichtstärke. Auch arbeitet das Objetiv mit dem neuen Canon Sensorsystem zusammen (was die alten Canon IS Objetive nicht tun - da hat Canon ja die STM Serie rausgebracht) Over many years Sigma struggled to take off in the fast standard zoom arena for APS-C DSLRs. That segment had been dominated by the Tamron AF 17-50mm f/2.8 (VC) with its highly attractive price/performance ratio and the all mighty but expensive OEM offerings (Nikon AF-S DX 17-55/2.8 and Canon EF-S 17-55/2.8 IS) owning the quality crown The Sigma 17-50 is slightly more expensive than the Tamron 17-50 VC, but the better-optically-performing Tamron 17-50 non-VC is considerably less expensive. It, of course, lacks image stabilization - another big advantage in my opinion. The Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM Lens is available in Canon (reviewed), Nikon, Pentax, Sony/Minolta and. Manufacturer description: The Sigma 17-50mm F2.8 EX DC OS HSM is a useful large-aperture standard zoom lens designed exclusively for APS-C format digital SLRs. How dxomark explains the fact that transmission of the Sigma 17-50mm F2.8 EX DC OS HSM lens is function of the camera body on which the test has been accomplished (3.9 on Nikon D500 and 3.3 on Nikon D7100) ? As I know the transmission is an intrinsic characteristics of the lens, and cannot depend on the camera body on which is mounted i use the sigma 17-50 on DX and the nikon 24-70 on FX. i also have the tamron 28-75. just to add to what wouter said, the sigma is great on APS-C, but it doesn't make a lot of sense to use a DX zoom on an FX camera, except in an emergency. the nikon 24-70 is pricey but worth every penny, with the caveat that there is considerable distortion at 24mm. the tamron 28-75 is a bargain lens in every. Available for Sigma, Canon, Nikon, Sony and Pentax DSLR mounts, the Sigma 17-50mm is a fairly substantial lens that weighs in at 569 grams without any lens caps attached. The 'EX' abbreviation. The Sigma 17-50 mm 2.8 EX DC OS HSM feels solid and is an alternative to the standard kit lens of Nikon. The zoom range of the Sigma is limited but the luminosity is much higher than of the kit lens. On the Nikon D7000, the Sigma 17-50 mm lens acts like a 27-75mm lens, which is a great range for a walk-around lens. The constant f/2.8 aperture and aspherical glass components makes it comparable in optical quality with the Canon L-series glass I'm used to, and the built in image stabilization can give up to four full stops (I didn't. Re: Sigma 17-70 vs Nikon 16-80. I too have the 17-70 C but no dock. It's a superb lens, big improvement over the kit 18-55. I find its focus accuracy and speed much better, it's much sharper (when discussed correctly) and on my d5100 at least it produced better colour clarity. In this case I am reviewing the Sigma 17-50 2.8 OS which runs $669.99 at Allen's Camera. Who is this lens for? This lens is for the new and up and coming photographer with the Canon Rebels or Nikon D3100 D5100 and possibly the D7000. This lens is one of the first two lenses that I see being in a photographers bag Should i get a Sigma 17-50 f/2.8 or a Sigma 17-70 f/2.8-4 Lens? or is there something else you would suggest for my Nikon d5000? I'm looking to get more light into my camera and a crisper image. ALSO: a monitor vs a TV? For Photo work through my laptop. Added (1). Better in low light is my main concern, a crisp image being second. I prefer to get in close with a lens vs wider too The Sigma was very sharp in the center from 17 to 50 and from F2.8 to 8. My sample had a slight front focus though, which can be adjusted in the K-5. The auto focus motor is very fast and quiet. Tested it head to head with the Tamron 17-50, and the Tamron sounded like a dentist's drill. The Tamron missed the focus a bit more than the Sigma too Nikkor 17-55, Tamron 17-50, Sigma 17-50. Note the Tamron I tested was the newer model with the little RC motor in it. I agree with Rob, the Sigma has higher build quality than the Tamron
